The GOI has developed the world’s first Disaster Recovery Index (DRI), which measures the progress of recovery in communities affected by Mount Merapi eruption in 2010 and lahar floods in 2011. The index is the result of a joint collaboration between BNPB and UNDP, which utilizes 22 variables to determine how communities are recovering from disaster in terms of restoring infrastructure, housing, livelihoods, and social structures. It would be beneficial to share DRI with the wider public and solicit inputs for the betterment of the index.
