The magnitude and the number of water-related disasters are increasing recently. Especially, disasters in Southeast
Asia such as the 2011 Thai flood, 2013 Jakarta flood, and 2013 Philippines Typhoon Haiyan are remarkable events.
The main objective of this symposium is to share the lessons learned from above events and other natural disasters
and propose future disaster mitigation measures. Also, a natural dam break event in Indonesia will be presented
because 5000 residents were saved by CBDRR (Community Based Disaster Risk Reduction) in the event.
