Globally, 1.3 billion people, often those most vulnerable to disasters, rely on
animals for their livelihoods. This session highlights effective strategies for protecting livelihoods and productive assets and showcases what can be achieved through collaboration. We will focus on a number of areas including the economic benefits of incorporating livestock into countrywide disaster risk reduction plans. Successful government case studies from Mexico, India and Costa Rica will be featured.

Join us at the Third World Conference for Disaster Risk Reduction (WCDRR). On March 16 we will be hosting a free, public forum “Testing successful solutions: a collaborative approach to reducing animal losses from disasters”.
