Investigation of the Tsunami damages in the Great East Japan Earthquake has revealed that while a huge number of buildings were swept away, many buildings resisted and survived the Tsunamis. This fact shows the superiority of Japanese architecture technology, and at the same time, proves that buildings can be adequately utilized for taking preventive measures to mitigate tsunami disasters. At this event, on the basis of the lessons learned from the Great East Japan Earthquake, we specify how to mitigate tsunami disasters by utilizing buildings. Since such utilization of buildings will resort to investment from the private sector, market formation will be needed. We also specify how to raise and maintain awareness of tsunami disaster prevention, which is required for market formation. Our mission is to explore ways to save the world from tsunamis.
