“Self-help”, “public assistance” and “mutual help” are the basics of DRR in Japan. Disaster response involves mutual help within the society while ensuring one’s own safety at the same time. This session will look into how our daily activities can lead to effective disaster response in times of emergency, based on past case studies. Also, we will learn more about the international aim of reviewing development, environment and DRR, and consider how each and every resident can contribute to connecting and bringing global aims to the local level.
